Working with Lana on this painting was such a unique and personal experience. She began by painting intuitively with her eyes closed, choosing colors and making marks while thinking about me and the energy she felt from me. I had no idea what the final piece would look like, which made the process even more interesting.
Later, she added the outline of my own body to the canvas and the words “You Are Your Only Limit.” Somehow the finished painting feels very much like me without being a traditional portrait. It is bold, feminine, emotional, full of movement and life.
The painting now hangs in my home, and I still find new things in it when I look at it. It feels less like a picture of me and more like a piece of my inner world made visible.
